Handwoven Persian Belouch Samouk
Courtesy: Minasian Rug Company
This carpet is hand-woven by Persian weavers on the border between Iran and Afghanistan. The design was inspired by the rural life of the Belouchi weavers residing in the mountainous areas of that region. Vegetal dyes are used and hand-spun wool, which gives the rug its antique feel. The pattern displays trees and animals and the “soumak” flat weave technique is used giving the piece a unique finish.
